Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
